Rachel Jennine Goudey believes that the mind, body, and spirit are all connected and that for true health and wellness one must work with all of these aspects of the self. She has seen first-hand the shifts that occur in her own life when she practices yoga and movement and she brings her expertise as a Certified Yoga Therapist and Psy.D. Clinical Psychologist to offer healing yoga therapy sessions to her clients.

Her aim is to teach and guide students and clients in practices that help bring them into deeper connection to their truest self by providing them with the tools to strengthen their abilities to discern, adapt, reflect, and soothe all of the facets of themselves. Her yoga classes and therapy sessions meet each individual where they are at while still challenging them to reach new heights of self-realization, acceptance, strength and flexibility both on and off of the mat. She pushes you to challenge yourself while also guiding you to listen to your body and intuition. She guides and teaches from a place of authenticity and playfulness.

Working in the mental health field for over 10 years, she has extensive experience working with trauma, substance abuse, and mood and behavior disorders. She has witnessed first hand how practices that incorporate the whole being provide more than just temporary symptom relief, but true understanding and healing so that the individual can move forward with strength, resiliency, and trust in themselves to make healthy life choices and be more skillfully adept in their thoughts and reactions to life's challenges.

F.A.Q.

WHAT IS YOGA THERAPY?

Yoga is a science and philosophy that teaches practices to live life in a way that brings into union the mind, body, and soul to bring the practitioner (student, client) to realize their true Self.

Yoga therapy is a holistic and integrative approach to healing and wellness. It is a system of investigation, transformation, and self-realization that works with the client to guide them into gaining awareness, insight, and integration of their thoughts, beliefs, actions, and desires. Specific asanas (poses), pranayama practices (breath work), meditations and relaxation techniques, as well as energy work are explored, taught, and practiced in sessions to suit the needs of the client in healing on all levels.

In our work together, I will utilize a blend of Eastern and Western philosophies and wellness practices that work with the psyche, the body, and energy.

WHAT DOES YOGA THERAPY TREAT?

Yoga therapy has been shown to be extremely effective for reducing anxiety, depression, and stress as well as working with PTSD and trauma. Yoga therapy is also a great resource for those struggling with self-esteem, body image issues, and substance abuse as well as those wanting to build physical strength, increase energy, and implement a healthier lifestyle. The aim of yoga therapy is to bring the client into alignment with their true self.
