Ayurvedic Lifestyle Practices to Heal Your Life Workshop Series w/Cassandra McDonough

Fridays, 4:00-6:00P; Jan. 19 – Feb. 23

Six 2-hour classes over six weeks

Ayurveda, like yoga, teaches us how to effectively combat stress through self-care. Learn the foundations of the oldest system of medicine in the world in 6 two-hour classes. Bring the lifestyle practices of Ayurveda into your daily life.  As the sister science to yoga, practicing an Ayurvedic lifestyle not only supports your practice, but can also prevent disease and address its causes at the root. In these six classes you will learn:

  • The basic principles of Ayurveda
  • Your natural constitution and the nature of any imbalances you may have
  • The cause of disease from an Ayurvedic perspective
  • How to prevent and heal imbalances using the five sense therapies, including: food (taste), touch (soothing self-massage), aromatherapy, color therapy, music therapy, and healthy lifestyle routines
  • Yogic lifestyle techniques including nasal cleansing (neti pot), abyangha (self massage), tongue scraping, and more!

Week 1: The Causes of Disease and Your Ayurvedic Constitution

Week 2: Constitution, Personality, and the Mind; The Nature of Your Imbalances

Week 3: Healing Your Life Through Diet

Week 4: Healing Your Life Through Touch

Jumpstart Your Mindfulness w/Keith Erickson

SATURDAYS, 3:00-5:00P; AUG. 12, aug. 19 & aug. 26

Jump-Start is an introductory mindfulness program with teacher Keith Erickson intended to guide you beyond that initial barrier of inertia that stalls our best intentions at the starting line. We will plant seeds and build infrastructure, starting with simple focused attention. As we build our everyday practice (yes, there is "homework") we learn to broaden and strengthen our attention. We will examine the distractions and obstacles that not only come up in our mindfulness practice, but in our everyday life experiences. We will provide tools and techniques for working with these hindrances.

No experience is necessary. Attendees will work with other live beings, NOT on a screen, to start a lifelong deepening of connection, understanding and awareness.

This series might also be useful to those who have previously explored mindfulness, but fell out of practice and are looking to return. Building a mindfulness practice is a marathon, not a sprint. The important thing is to keep at it.

Emphasis is put on learning to be kind to, and even embrace, the wandering mind while developing a self-sustaining mindfulness practice inviting curiosity, compassion and clarity.

Cost: $125 for all 3 sessions
